Sharh al-Muqaddimat is Imam al-Sanusi's auto-commentary on his Muqaddimat — the introductory preliminaries that open his graduated curriculum of Ashari kalam. The Muqaddimat establish the rational preliminaries of the discipline: the division of the rational into the necessary (wajib), the impossible (mustahil), and the possible (jaiz); the methods of reasoned proof; the relation between reason and revelation. The commentary opens each of these for the beginning student and prepares him to enter the al-Aqida al-Sughra (Umm al-Barahin) proper.

About The Author

Imam Abu Abd Allah Muhammad b. Yusuf al-Sanusi (832-895 AH / 1427-1490 CE) was a Tlemceni Maliki scholar whose creedal works became the standard aqida curriculum of the Maliki-Ashari world.

"شرح المقدمات" شرحُ الإمام السنوسي على متن "المقدمات" — المقدمات العقلية الأولى لمنهجه المتدرّج في الكلام الأشعري. تُؤَسِّس المقدّماتُ القواعدَ العقلية: تَقْسيم المعقول إلى واجب ومستحيل وجائز، ومناهج الاستدلال، وعلاقة العقل بالنقل. يَفُكُّ الشرحُ هذه المعاني للمبتدئ، ويُهَيِّئُه لِدخول العقيدة الصغرى (أمّ البراهين).

عن المؤلف

الإمام أبو عبد الله محمد بن يوسف السنوسي (٨٣٢-٨٩٥ هـ) عالم مالكي تلمساني، صارت كتبُه العَقَدية منهجَ العقيدة المعتمد في عالم المالكية الأشعرية.
