About the author
Ismail Anqarawi: Ismail Anqarawi rahimahullah was a prominent Ottoman scholar and Sufi shaykh of the 17th century. A devoted follower of Jalal al-Din Rumi and the Sufi master Ibn Arabi, he was a highly influential intellectual and spiritual figure in the Ottoman world. He served as a shaykh of the Mawlawi (Mevlevi) Sufi order and was celebrated both as an author and as a beloved guide of his community. His most widely known work in translation is 'The Lamp of Mysteries' (Mishkat al-Anwar), a commentary on the Light Verse (Ayat al-Nur) of the Qur'an (24:35), which situates Qur'anic exegesis within the cosmological and metaphysical framework of the Akbari and Mawlawi traditions.

Bilal Kuspinar: Professor Bilal Kuspinar is Chair of the Department of Philosophy and Director of the International Rumi Centre for the Study of Civilization at Necmettin Erbakan University in Turkey. He previously held a professorship at Ahlia University in Bahrain. His academic formation spans three countries: he earned a BA in Theology from Selcuk University, Konya, Turkey (1983); an MSc in History of Science, Philosophy and Logic from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara (1987); and two doctoral degrees - one from Selcuk University, Turkey (1991) and one from McGill University, Montreal, Canada (1995). He has taught graduate and undergraduate courses and supervised theses and dissertations at institutions including Selcuk University, the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) in Kuala Lumpur, McGill University, and Concordia University in Montreal. He has participated in more than 30 international symposia and presented over 20 papers. His research focuses on medieval Islamic philosophy and mysticism, particularly within the context of Ottoman intellectual history. He specializes in the thought of Ismail Anqarawi, about whom he authored a monograph.
