About The Book
Izhar Sidq al-Mawadda is Ibn Marzuq al-Tilimsani's substantial three-volume Maghribi commentary on al-Busiri's Burda. Written in the century immediately following the composition of the Burda itself, the commentary is among the earliest sustained scholarly engagements with the poem — and remains, alongside the commentaries of al-Bajuri and Ibn Hajar al-Haytami, one of the three foundational classical commentaries on the ode. Ibn Marzuq brings to each line the textual depth of a major Maliki muhaddith and the literary sensibility of a master of the Andalusian-Maghribi poetic tradition.

Imam Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Marzuq al-Tilimsani (710-781 AH / 1310-1379 CE), known as al-Khatib, was the leading Maliki hadith and adab scholar of fourteenth-century Tlemcen. A grandfather of his grandson Ibn Marzuq al-Hafid, he served as preacher of the Marinid court and authored major works in hadith and the Prophetic biography, including a celebrated longer biographical work on the Marinid sultan Abu al-Hasan.

"إظهار صدق المودة في شرح البردة" شرحُ ابن مرزوق التلمساني المطوّل في ثلاثة مجلّدات على بُرْدَة البوصيري. كُتب في القرن الذي يَلي عَصْر البوصيري نَفْسه، فهو من أَوْلى الاشتغالات العلمية الممتدّة على القصيدة، ومن الشروح الثلاثة الكلاسيكية المعتمَدة (مع شرحَي الباجوري وابن حجر الهيتمي). يأتي ابنُ مرزوق إلى كلِّ بيتٍ بِعُمق المُحَدِّث المالكي وحِسّ الأديب التلمساني المُتْقِن لتقليد الشعر الأندلسي المغربي.

الإمام محمد بن أحمد بن مرزوق التلمساني (٧١٠-٧٨١ هـ) المعروف بالخطيب، إمامُ مالكية تلمسان في القرن الثامن الهجري في الحديث والأدب. خَطَب لِبَلاط بني مرين، وصنَّف في الحديث والسيرة النبوية، ومنها سيرةٌ مَطْوَلة للسلطان أبي الحسن المريني.

Ibn Marzuq al-Tilimsani: Imam Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Marzuq al-Tilimsani rahimahullah (710-781 AH / 1310-1379 CE), known as al-Khatib, was the preeminent Maliki hadith and adab scholar of fourteenth-century Tlemcen in the Maghrib. He served as preacher (khatib) of the Marinid court, a position reflecting his stature as the leading religious voice of the dynasty, and authored major works in hadith and Prophetic biography, including a celebrated biographical work on the Marinid sultan Abu al-Hasan. He is to be distinguished from his grandson, Ibn Marzuq al-Hafid. His three-volume commentary on the Burda of Imam al-Busiri, Izhar Sidq al-Mawadda fi Sharh al-Burda, was composed in the generation immediately following al-Busiri himself, making it among the earliest sustained scholarly engagements with the poem. It is recognized alongside the commentaries of al-Bajuri and Ibn Hajar al-Haytami as one of the three classical reference commentaries on the Burda.

Bilal Muhammad Hatem al-Sakka: Bilal Muhammad Hatem al-Sakka is a contemporary muhaqqiq, a scholarly editor whose task is to establish, annotate, and prepare classical Arabic and Islamic manuscripts for modern publication. He is associated chiefly with Dar al-Taqwa in Damascus, and his editions have appeared in recent years across several distributors of traditional Islamic books. His editorial output spans a notably broad range of the classical disciplines. In Sufism he has edited ʿAwarif al-Maʿarif, the influential handbook of the spiritual path by Shihab al-Din al-Suhrawardi. He has given particular attention to the devotional poetry tradition surrounding the Burda of al-Busiri, preparing two of its major commentaries, Mashariq al-Anwar al-Mudiyya and the three-volume Izhar Sidq al-Mawadda fi Sharh al-Burda. In the Arabic language sciences he edited the Hashiya of al-Sujaʿi on Ibn ʿAqil's commentary on the Alfiyya, a standard work of grammar. In hadith and fatwa literature he prepared al-Fatawa al-Hadithiyya of Ibn Hajar al-Haytami.
