Izhar Sidq al-Mawadda is Ibn Marzuq al-Tilimsani's substantial three-volume Maghribi commentary on al-Busiri's Burda. Written in the century immediately following the composition of the Burda itself, the commentary is among the earliest sustained scholarly engagements with the poem — and remains, alongside the commentaries of al-Bajuri and Ibn Hajar al-Haytami, one of the three foundational classical commentaries on the ode. Ibn Marzuq brings to each line the textual depth of a major Maliki muhaddith and the literary sensibility of a master of the Andalusian-Maghribi poetic tradition.

About The Author

Imam Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Marzuq al-Tilimsani (710-781 AH / 1310-1379 CE), known as al-Khatib, was the leading Maliki hadith and adab scholar of fourteenth-century Tlemcen. A grandfather of his grandson Ibn Marzuq al-Hafid, he served as preacher of the Marinid court and authored major works in hadith and the Prophetic biography, including a celebrated longer biographical work on the Marinid sultan Abu al-Hasan.

"إظهار صدق المودة في شرح البردة" شرحُ ابن مرزوق التلمساني المطوّل في ثلاثة مجلّدات على بُرْدَة البوصيري. كُتب في القرن الذي يَلي عَصْر البوصيري نَفْسه، فهو من أَوْلى الاشتغالات العلمية الممتدّة على القصيدة، ومن الشروح الثلاثة الكلاسيكية المعتمَدة (مع شرحَي الباجوري وابن حجر الهيتمي). يأتي ابنُ مرزوق إلى كلِّ بيتٍ بِعُمق المُحَدِّث المالكي وحِسّ الأديب التلمساني المُتْقِن لتقليد الشعر الأندلسي المغربي.

عن المؤلف

الإمام محمد بن أحمد بن مرزوق التلمساني (٧١٠-٧٨١ هـ) المعروف بالخطيب، إمامُ مالكية تلمسان في القرن الثامن الهجري في الحديث والأدب. خَطَب لِبَلاط بني مرين، وصنَّف في الحديث والسيرة النبوية، ومنها سيرةٌ مَطْوَلة للسلطان أبي الحسن المريني.
